Alan "Ed" YOUNG

Alan Edward (Ed) YoungEd Young, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007. Ed was born February 7, 1932 in Ironton, Ohio to Jessie Mae and Alan Lee Young.At age 15, his family relocated to Pasadena, California. Ed proudly served his country as a Fireman aboard the USS Maddox during the Korean War and also worked as Manager for W.T Grant Company for seven years.In 1970 after receiving his Engineering Degree from Los Angeles Trade Tech, Ed and his family moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1970. He went on to retire from U. S. West as an Engineering Consultant after 30 years. While in Colorado, Ed was very active as a Board Member and Coach of Arvada Jr. Baseball where he initiated their first T -Ball program. During this time, he also maintained his part time business E&M Photos.Ed and his wife of 42 years, Myrna, moved to Lake Havasu fifteen years ago. Ed became very active in the community and was a member of Civitan and Tobac. He served on the Board of Havasu for Youth and was a JASS Volunteer for Mohave County Probation. Ed wrote articles for the Havasu Free Press, TV 45, and later for Colorado River Life. He also partnered in Rink Rockers Roller Rink with his son, Bill Young.A long time Mason, Ed became very active in Lake Havasu Lodge 64-F&AM, becoming Master, at which time he initiated the creation and dedication of the cornerstone for the new city hall in October, 2000. He went on to become Arizona Grand Lodge Program Director, followed by Arizona Grand Lodge Grand Marshall.Ed was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Myrna; daughters, Nancy Martin (John) and Cheryl Henshaw; sons, Rich Young (Terese) and Bill Young (Ann); nine grandchildren, Dan Williams, Mathew Martin (Krystal), Christine Martin, Nichole Henshaw, Brian: Henshaw, Ashley Young, Amanda Young, Tayler Young and Dustin Lamb; two great grandchildren, Chloe Reynolds and Austin Martin.Ed enjoyed many hobbies, learning to silversmith, lapidary, drawing portraits, writing novels, and walking in the desert.Services will be held at the Masonic Lodge No 64 F&AM, 2901 Chemehuevi, Saturday, June 30, 2007, 5:00 p.m."And all I am saying is, see what a wonderful world it would be if only we would give it a chance.
