Jack Eugene Rodgers

Jack Eugene Rodgers (66) passed away on Feb. 18th in Lake Havasu, AR. He was born Nov. 24th, 1949, in Tulare, CA. Mom and dad, Grant and Mary, moved to Yakima, WA, with little Jack in tow. After a few more moves they settled in Tieton, WA.Jack was eventually joined byPatty, Tom, Cindy, Linda and Nancy, all of whom still live in WA State along with mom, Mary. From the get go, Jack was a go-getter. At 12 he had a paper route. Later he moved sprinkler pipe, was the pin setter at the local bowling alley, and worked at Radfords grocery store saving enough money to buy his first motorcycle: a Suzuki 80. During his senior year of high school he bought his first car, a 57 Ford Fairlane, to drive back and forth to yet another job at Albertsons. Right after high school, Jack enlisted in the Navystationed out of San Francisco. He shipped out on the USS Vega as a Signalman, 1st class during Vietnam.Jack proudly served his country four years. After leaving the military, (1972)Jack returned to Yakima, married and raised two children, Amber (Rodgers) Farr and Justin Rodgers. After divorcing his children’s mother he met a woman who had two young daughters: Justine Dollar (Sybouts) and Andrea Sybouts. As the years rolled on, he grew to love them as his own. Jack went to Perry Trade and opened his own appliance repair business. After a few years Bemis Appliance hired him and he worked 20 years there. After leaving Bemis, hehad his own business againcalled “Action Jacks,”because he always knew what to do and how to get s?!t done. Jack was a much loved little league coachandlater in life involved with Combat Veterans United. He helped establishing the War on Terrorism Memorial at Sarge Hubbard Park. Jack helped out with fundraisers such as the local crab feed benefiting veterans and the American Cancer Society. Jack had an ongoing love affair with biscuits and gravy, deviled eggs, apple pie, and a good steak. Jackloved reading books with substance to them and the morning paper. Jack was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. Jack loved everything about motorcycling; he loved the people, the sound, the feel of the bike, and the freedom of the open road. Jack fell head over heels in love withJoanne Looney. They were inseparable and enjoyed many adventures together. They bought a motorhome and proceeded to put a good many miles on it. They had many adventures together,but the biggest one of all was when they wed on Oct. 29th, 2015. Jack simply adored Joanne and loved their life together. Jack lived his life knowing he couldn’t waste a single minute of it. He would tell you to stop trying to please other people and do the things you love because life is too precious to spend it doing anything else. Jack will be long remembered for his kindness, generosity, playfulness, and how much loved people. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local veterans group or the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held in his honor on a date that is yet to be determined. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
